Custom Gearbox Design & Build

Rather than purchase a prebuilt gearbox this year, the design team and I decided to create a custom one. There are many benefits to having a custom gearbox, such as the ability to set custom speeds, have integration with other mechanisms, and create an aesthetic that matches other components. After the all designs were finished, we handed off our blueprints to the build team who machined and manufactured all the parts in our school machine shop. This gearbox has been a huge success for us in competition this season and helped us win multiple engineering awards.
