Mechanical Combination Lock Design & Build

This is a fully functioning Combination Lock that I designed in CAD and machined for a grade 11 manufacturing project. It works by taking advantage of 3 interlocking pins and rings. After one complete rotation of the dial, the pin on the previous ring will catch onto the edge of the next ring. It is therefore, possible to manipulate the rings using a combination of turns in the left or right direction, and once the slits in the rings are properly aligned it is possible for the latch to pass between them and then opening the lock.

Almost all of the parts below were designed such that they could be easily machined on the lathe. However, I found that two of the rings would be best machined by a simple CNC program.
